November 24-25, 2008

Introduction

As International Commercial Arbitration enters its second century, it can take pride in its worldwide prosperity. However, a number of challenges remain. Among them is the divergence between different jurisdictions over matters of the interpretation of the 1958 New York Convention; the scope of the public policy exception; as well as the paradox of arbitrability (subjective and objective). These are the main issues which will be discussed at ACCML’08 on: 21st Century Challenges for International Commercial Arbitration, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of 1958 New York Convention, on November 24-25, 2008, at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt.
