-ASCML supports both senior and junior lawyers working in the field
of commercial and maritime law. Junior lawyers are encouraged to
compete for the ASCML Paper or/and Book Prizes. Special career
achievers among senior lawyers are invited to compete for the ASCML
Career Prize.
Applicants can either nominate themselves or they can be nominated
by a colleague or their institution. Applicants from previous years
are eligible to re-apply, and are encouraged to do this.
For prompt attention, mark package "ASCML Paper Prize 2008", "ASCML
Book Prize 2008" or "ASCML Career Prize".

Paper Prize
-The ASCML Paper Prize of US$ 200, plus a commemorative
certificate and plate, is awarded annually for the best
outstanding paper, published in the last two years, on any
aspect of the development and/or uniformity of commercial and
maritime law.

Book Prize
-The ASCML Book Prize of US$ 300, plus a commemorative
certificate and plate, is awarded annually for the best book
published in the last two years on any aspect of the development
and/or uniformity of Commercial and Maritime Law. Nominations
should include a soft copy of the paper directly scanned from
the publishing source, a half-page abstract plus a resume of the
author.

Career Prize
-The ASCML Career Prize of US$ 600, plus a commemorative
certificate and plate, is awarded annually to a person who made
an outstanding contribution within the field of commercial and
maritime law. Candidates are eligible for consideration up to
and including 10 years following the award of a PhD or at least
20 years of relevant law experience. Nominations should include
a one-page statement outlining the candidate’s contribution to
the development and/or uniformity of commercial and maritime law
plus a full CV and reprints of the candidate’s two best articles
(soft copies). The winner of the award will be invited to
deliver a keynote address at the Arab Conference for Commercial
and Maritime Law. The ASCML Career Prize of US$ 600, plus a
commemorative certificate and plate, is awarded annually to a
person who made an outstanding contribution within the field of
commercial and maritime law. Candidates are eligible for
consideration up to and including 10 years following the award
of a PhD or at least 20 years of relevant law experience.
